A family has a close encounter with an intrigued bull killer whale.

Taken July 15, 2006
SeaWorld Orlando

(a personal addition - this moment very much reminds me of the photos you see with Keiko, the star of Free Willy, and his adoring public)

Wow. It's rare that people get this guy right over. What a shot and it really shows his size but also his gentle nature. Fantastic shot.

I love this. Such a rare moment indeed.

I do have one problem, but do not take this the wrong way. I think it would have been 50x's better if the two girls on the outside weren't there. Just the one girl in the middle. Then there would be more of Tilikum because he's almost completely covered.

SO there's my critique, and you can't get mad because you have it set for it.

Whoohoo critique! I agree with you. But he wouldn't have even been close if the other two girls weren't there egging him on, haha. It would have been nice to zoom out a touch and compare his size to the girl's. I love photos like that. :)

You crack me up, my dear.

That is cool, I thought he wouldn't interact. They were very lucky I guess

He does, has, but rarely does. I've had him over and a friend of mine, ~autumnalangel has had him on a few occasions. ;)

aw you are so lucky. I would be happy if I could just see them once in my life.
I miss Loro Parque very much although they had no close-up.

By the way, did you recieve my e-mail with the orca photos? I sent it some weeks back, but you never responded. I always wanted to ask if the e-mail didn't arrive properly, but always forgot about it.
Today I worked on the last photos and had to think of you again. So did you recieve them? I will upload the watermarked ones soon here at dA
