I know drama is an art form, but seriously...

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 21, 2007, 8:18 PM
To fully spite my lack-of-posting-in-this-journal nature, I brought myself to sit down and write a proper argument tonight.

Now, as of late, its been my decision to refrain from discussing my personal life here - simply because I really don't have the time to type out an essay of why things happen and whine when they don't go my way and, more importantly, I don't feel the need for people to reach out and respond to my soundings - positive or otherwise.

Call this a rant, because I've obviously found the time to post this here, but I'm just curious as to why people feel that they must update their journals with information that has nothing to do with their creations, much less, information that seems more for the purpose of gaining apologies and grievances.

What happened to the art?

I love reading about peoples' travels, when they'll get a new piece of equipment, when they've learned something and have stories to share, if they'll be updating soon or even why they haven't updated at all (sound familiar?). What are they doing with their art, who are they seeing, where are they doing it?

I don't want to read (consistent) entries about how somebody has gone all emo and hates their life and does very little about it besides posting in their dA journal. They get about a billion replies along the lines of "I'm soooo sorrry!!!1" and gives each one a "yeah, it sucks" in return. Whats the point?

I know I've been guilty of posting no-art-nonsense in the past and I've stopped simply because I never saw the point in ranting about life's goings-ons to people who I believe really wouldn't want to hear about it - it is an art place, afterall.

So I'm just wondering here, for the sake of writing and the lack of creations that I see sometimes.
Where's the beef, why the drama?

Update

So I wasn't kidding when I said I was uberbusy. Finals are this week and I just finnished the second production of the semester as stage manager. I've been slowly but surely progressing with photos lately; I can only take a few when I find time between class, work and sleeping (and thats not much). I've been more experimenting with getting closer to things, looking around the campus and getting out and about at different times of the day. The majority of my beach photos were between 6:30 and 8:30AM in November and all the shots from campus are on weekends in the early afternoon or evening, haha.

I have no life anymore.

Expect more updates maybe. I wasn't lying when I said that last time.

Hope everyone is having a good holiday season :holly:
And thanks, once again, for your continuing support!

long lost update!

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 24, 2007, 8:11 PM
So here I am, totally neglecting my DA :(

I really apologize for the long, long, looooong time in which I never updated or posted or even replied to you awesome people.

I'm taking six classes right now and I have to commute to every single one of them (add to that my SCUBA certification), plus I have two jobs and a volunteer position at a nature center in Richmond. WHEW. I'm a busy girl.

Thanks to everyone who featured me! <33 to you!

Just posted a pretty picture I took during my first dive. Will definitely try to get this baby up and running again.

Forreals this time.

MORE BUSY

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 8, 2007, 10:47 PM
Holy smokes! So it may look like I've completely forgotten about DA but I swear I haven't. Just really, really preoccupied with life right now.

I have a job, too. At a photography studio/bridal store. Its weird. But I'm being weaned off of retail and into retouching photos and designing ads.

I left a photo I took a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was splendid.

Hope everyone's summer has been great so far!

busy busy busy

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 18, 2007, 3:27 PM
I got busy again and came back here and there were 300something messages waiting for me. While I was gone,

I was voted "Most Creative Female" in my senior class superlatives.
I graduated high school in four honor societies.
I got a photography job.
I got two old Minolta and Canon film camera bodies with about five FD lenses and filters as a graduation gift from my grandpa.
and
I have an application lined up for a bridal store and studio.

So I probably won't be as busy now. I've been going to Williamsburg every other weekend now and I still continue to work to get there. I'm saving up for my own car so I can get to my classes and then start moving again. I'm hoping to put aside some dollars for a new lens or a trip to Florida or something, but I'm feeling the need to put my education first and get settled in an actual dorm room before I start thinking about technology and travel.

Hope you guys are having an enjoyable summer so far.
